My Design Processes
When you hire a designer, their talent should be your primary concern. But an equally important qualification is the designer's process. In other words, what are the steps they take to get from the beginning of the project to the end in the most efficient, cost-effective manner? And, what process have they created to ensure that the designer will generate consistently great work every time?
At elf design, strong processes are the foundation of everything I design.
My time-tested methodologies (I've been using them to design hundreds of small business identities over the past 10 years) are proven to get things doneand to require minimal time investment from our busy clients.
Whether I'm designing your logo, a website, or another business graphic, I ensure that you have:
- Choices: It's important that you have multiple options throughout the design process. That way, we can continually refine your design to ensure that it truly reflects your business needs and your own personal tastes.
- Access: I don't believe in the "smoke and mirrors" approach to creative work. I want you to know what I'm doingand why I'm doing itat all times. So, in addition to sharing with you our standard process steps here, we will also always keep you informed if any step in your project requires a unique approach.
- Flexibility: If a better approach presents itself for your project, I'll take that route. These processes are meant to be taken as a starting point only, to better show you what steps your design project may take.
My Approach To Creating Results With Your Brand Design
My approach to designing your materials is a little different from most graphic designers:
- Logo Design: Many designers will present you with 3 logo concepts and have you choose from just those options. My logo design process is much more in-depth you'll see a minimum of 10 designs. My process also allows you to analyze each piece of your logo design seperately I break the process up into the 3 major components of a logo: the symbol, the font and the color palette. That way, you can concentrate on your decisions about just one piece of the design at once, and make sure that each individual element of your logo is optimized for your business's success.
- Marketing Material Design: Above all, your marketing materials should all be designed with consistency in mind. I achieve this by developing a rich and flexible Visual Vocabulary for your business, and then using that Visual Vocabulary throughout all of your materials. When your marketing materials are consistent, they will be much more effective and will bring you more business.
- Website Design: Instead of creating a website that's "just pretty", we take into account the 3 major areas of importance on a website the content, graphics and function of a site and the way that those three elements combine to bring you visitors through the Search Engines and to convert those visitors into prospects and sales.
By approaching your designs in this way, the resulting designs will bring your business bottom-line results and help you to grow.
